Welcome to my third weekly blog post! If this is the first blog of mine that you read please know that these blogs that I publish each week are essentially a synopsis of what I’ve been doing in my computer science 2 class.

This week my computer science 2 teacher directed my class to focus and continue on our 20% Projects. For context, the 20% Project is a project that involves choosing to create a website, app, video game, etc. related to one of your interests. The 20% Project displays not only your coding skills but also your passions and interests. This project allows you to show your personality and individuality through countless lines of code. The project does not necessarily have an exact due date. My teacher informed me this past week that continuous progress makes up for the lack of a traditional due date.

Unlike what my second blog post discussed about me creating an app for my profound interest in weather, I decided to go back to my original idea of creating a website instead. I found that it would be best to create a website about meteorology in lieu of an app because my passion project outside of school is creating a website dedicated to all things weather. I informed my teacher of this change, and he approved of my sudden change. Then my teacher advised me to set up my website using Next.js.

In addition to my 20% Project, my teacher showed me some pretty neat weather API content. He showed me where to find weather APIs via weather.gov or the NWS’s website. I thought the weather API was pretty cool, and I’m considering using it in my website.

As of currently, I am making adequate progress on my 20% Project despite the sundry of setbacks. I am learning the ins and outs of Next.js, and I am adjusting to it as well. I cannot wait to see the final product of my 20% Project!
